Madhuri Syrup

Madhuri Syrup

Madhuri – Multi-mechanistic support for dry and productive cough

Madhuri syrup is a scientifically formulated Ayurvedic polyherbal preparation designed to provide multidimensional support in both dry and productive cough associated with respiratory tract infections and chronic airway disorders. Developed on classical Ayurvedic principles and supported by modern pharmacological research, Madhuri Syrup works by soothing irritated respiratory mucosa, liquefying thick mucus, clearing obstructed airways, and strengthening immune defence.
Rather than acting as a mere cough suppressant, Madhuri syrup addresses the underlying inflammatory, infectious, allergic, and hypersecretory components of cough, making it suitable for both acute and long-term use across all age groups.

Know the Key Ingredients:

1) Ardusi/Vasa (Adhatoda vasica)

Vasa is a classical drug used in Kasa (cough) and Shwasa (asthma and breathlessness) and possesses Tikta–Kashaya rasa (bitter and astringent taste) along with Ushna virya (hot potency), which helps liquefy Kapha (thick mucus) and relieve airway obstruction. From a modern perspective, Vasa contains vasicine and vasicinone, compounds known for their strong expectorant, bronchodilator, antitussive (cough-suppressing), and antimicrobial actions, supporting effective respiratory relief and improved airway function.

2) Tulasi (Ocimum sanctum)

Tulasi is a potent Kapha-Vata pacifier (balances mucus and airway dryness) and a Rasayana (rejuvenative, tissue-strengthening agent) for respiratory health. Modern studies show anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-histaminic, anti-inflammatory, and immunomodulatory actions, supporting strong immunity and clear breathing.

3) Sunthi (Zingiber officinale)

Sunthi stimulates Agni (digestive and metabolic fire), melts Kapha (reduces thick mucus and congestion), and facilitates the expulsion of mucus from the respiratory tract, thereby easing breathing and chest heaviness. By correcting sluggish metabolism and clearing accumulated secretions, it supports respiratory comfort. From a modern perspective, it exhibits strong antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-tussive (cough-suppressing) effects, helping reduce infection, inflammation, and persistent cough.

4) Kali mircha (Piper nigrum)

It enhances bioavailability (improve absorption and effectiveness of other nutrients and medicines), liquefy mucus (break down thick Kapha secretions), and reduce allergic responses (control hypersensitivity reactions), thereby supporting clear airways and efficient therapy. By promoting better drug assimilation and easing congestion, they help restore respiratory balance. From a modern perspective, they contain piperine, a bioactive compound that exhibits mucolytic (mucus-breaking), antihistaminic (anti-allergic), antimicrobial, and bronchodilatory (airway-widening) actions, aiding easier breathing and immune support.

5) Mulethi (Glycyrrhiza glabra)

This herb acts as a soothing demulcent (coats and protects the throat lining) and a Vata-Pitta pacifier (balances Vata and Pitta doshas to reduce dryness, heat, and irritation), helping relieve throat discomfort and reduce cough frequency. By calming aggravated doshas and protecting mucous membranes, it supports respiratory comfort and healing. From a modern perspective, it exhibits anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antibacterial, mucolytic (mucus-clearing), and immunomodulatory effects, enhancing immunity and promoting smooth, easy breathing.
